Stop Looking at the Facts. Create Your Reality.

Your bank balance, your past, your scale: those are facts. They’re not your reality. Here’s the difference.

Day 10 of my 14-day 6 AM Check-in series, and let me tell you how this morning started.

At 6 AM, I was on my Peloton. I hit live on YouTube and talked for two straight minutes to a black screen. My camera never turned on. That’s a fact.

But the reality is, I am a media mogul. I’m the woman other women wake up for at 6 AM, ready for their word. So I wasn’t going to look at that fact and say, “I guess today’s not the day.” No. Today is the day.

Too many of us look at the facts instead of creating our reality.

Facts are a reflection of the past

Open your banking app. It says $200 or $300. That’s a fact. Now, how are you going to look at it? “I’m broke, so I’ll act broke today”? No.

That number is a reflection of past decisions and past behavior. The reality is, I’m a multimillionaire. I’m going to believe it, act like it, and do what multimillionaires do. I’m not going to let one fact change the trajectory of my life.

Stop letting what you see with your natural eyes dictate how you live.

The ghosts of the past

Maybe you’ve had some horrible relationships. One, two, maybe three divorces. That’s a fact. But it doesn’t mean every man out there is no good. The right one is out there, waiting for you to become the woman he’s looking for.

If every time a man speaks to you, you think, “I know he’s a cheater,” you’re replaying a ghost of the past. Keep replaying it, and you’ll keep getting the same type of man. Take the blindfold off.

Maybe your boss doesn’t like you, or you hate your job. That’s a fact. But the reality is you’ve gained critical thinking, project management, and communication skills. You can use them to start a business or apply for that director position. Your resume is just a glimpse of what you can do.

Audit your assets

Last week we audited your friends. This week, let’s audit your assets.

I’m 51 years old, and I look good. Look in the mirror and talk to yourself about your assets. Don’t say, “I’m overweight. My metabolism is slow.” That may be a fact right now, but you can do something about it.

My cheat code

I caught myself recently telling my son, “The scale is just stuck at this number.” I heard myself and said, “No. That may be a fact right now, but it’s not my reality.”

So here’s my cheat code: I take peptides, and I love them. I’m 51 years old, and I believe I need a little help. Guess what? They’ve helped. I went from 163 to 150 in about three weeks.

I also work out. I lift weights and do a lot of strength training. Peptides are for me, and they may not be for you. But whatever your version is, stop living in “I’m stuck.”

Stop celebrating your limitations

Stop with the “woe is me” conversations: “It’s always going to be this way. I guess that’s my lot in life.” Nobody wants to hear that, including you.

If you want to bend reality, talk about the life you want to live, the things you want to have, and the woman you want to become.

Queen of the Green

On the golf course, I’m her. My girlfriend gave me a bag for my birthday that says “Queen of the Green,” and I carry it everywhere. I put the Louis in the closet, baby.

I don’t care what the score says today. The reality is, I’m Queen of the Green. I don’t want to be Nelly Korda. I want to be TMagnificent on the golf course. I look in the mirror every morning and say, “Hey, Queen of the Green.” My husband laughs and says I’m on another planet. So should you be.

If you can see it with your physical eyes, it’s already in the past. Go create the future you want to live.

For you today

  • Name one fact you’ve been treating as your reality: your bank balance, your past, your job, or the scale.
  • Rewrite it as your reality, in the present tense: “I am…”
  • Audit your assets. Look in the mirror and list what’s working for you.

See you tomorrow, live at 6 AM Eastern on YouTube.

We should all be rich friends. — Dr. TMac
